		<description>I agree with your sentiment in the closing paragraph.  He's been close to needing Tommy John surgery since his days in the outfield (2002 or 2003?) where he took the Luis Gonzalez approach to throwing the ball in (i.e. limp throws) to protect the ligament.  That was the major factor that moved him to 1B.  
  However, the StL medical staff seems to be a tad inept (Carpenter, Rolen) so maybe he SHOULD have had the surgery at the conclusion of the season, but like Carp, they delayed.</description>
