- The Detroit Tigers put together one of the most formidable hitting lineups in baseball this off-season. Do they really need to strike gold with “out of baseball” relievers too? Matt Mantei hasn’t pitched in the big league in two years, but his stuff looks “nasty” so far this spring.
- Alex Gonzalez is looking to be the early front runner for the Cincinnati Reds starting shortstop job. He’s competing with Jeff Keppinger.
- Anthony Reyes was 2-14 last season for the Cardinals, but, so far, has been impressive this spring.

Keppinger still hasn’t played SS this spring. He’s played 1b and 3b. I don’t understand it. Alex Gonzo can’t hit and neither can Castro. Keppinger played well in the field in September and hit lights out.
