Stop! Don’t move. Be very careful with the mouse as quick or further movement may injure Oakland starting pitcher, Rich Harden.
Fantasy baseball GM’s who took the chance on Harden were rewarded with two very efficient starts to begin the season. He’s 1-0 with an 0.82 ERA and 15 strikeouts. However, in the back of all of your minds you’ve been wondering, how long can Harden stay healthy. Be honest, you’ve been waiting for the other shoe to drop (most likely a steel toed boot on Harden’s pitching elbow).
Well, that other shoe may be peeking around the corner as Harden has been scratched from his start against the Toronto Blue Jays today.
The A’s have scratched Rich Harden for tonight’s game in Toronto with back soreness, specifically in the lat area.
The injury is believed to be minor and it might have been the aftereffects of the long flights to and from Japan last month. Harden is now expected to start at Cleveland on Saturday.
Harden threw only 86 pitches in his last outing after having thrown 95 in his first start. He has missed much of the past three seasons with injuries, but the only problem he had had since the end of last season was biceps tendinitis over the winter.
While this injury may not be serious, isn’t it just a sign of things to come for Harden?
