The Rocky Mountain News, yesterday, announced that

“Rookie [tag]Chris Iannetta[/tag] received an indication today he has claimed the Rockies’ No. 1 catching job”

This news, shall it hold true throughout the remainder of the spring, should move Iannetta up the rankings chart on most fantasy catcher lists. Bill James has Iannetta projected at .305/.391/.501 with 15 HR’s if he gets 403 AB’s. Well, he should do at least 400 AB’s as the #1 guy.

David, over at Baseball Musings, gives Iannetta high praise, stating

“If his major league number come anywhere close to his minor league numbers, he’ll give Joe Mauer a run for his money as the best hitting catcher in the majors.”
