The list of pitchers in the battle for the 5th spot in the [tag]Texas Rangers[/tag] rotation was reduced by two Sunday morning as Josh Rupe and John Koronka were optioned to AAA.

“That means the 5th starter is going to be Kam Loe, Jamey Wright, or Bruce Chen…”

Loe has pitched 13 2/3 scoreless innings this spring and seems to be the front runner for the job. However, there is no clear cut favorite yet. If you look at all of their spring numbers, it really just clouds the issue. Loe has pitched the most innings (13 2/3 vs 11 2/3 for Chen and 8 1/3 for Wright) but Wright has made the most starts (3 vs 2 for Loe and 1 for Chen). Taking a look at ERA and K/BB helps none either.

[tag]Kam Loe[/tag] - 0.00ERA 6K/4BB
[tag]Bruce Chen[/tag] - 0.77ERA 8K/4BB
[tag]Jamey Wright[/tag] - 2.16ERA 6K/2BB

Only one of these guys will have any value to you in mixed and AL only leagues (remember this is the 5th spot in the Rangers rotation). Keep this race on your radar and grab the winner of it off the waiver wire or late in your drafts.
